Congressman Tim Ryan is in.
The Ohio Democrat has long flirted with a run at higher office and on Thursday he announced he’s launching a campaign for president.
Ryan’s campaign website timryanforamerica.com launched moments before he planned to discuss his plans on daytime talk show The View.
“Tim’s running for president to rebuild the American dream and focus on what really matters: public education, affordable health care and an economy that works for all of us.”
Ryan, 45, joins a crowded field of 16 Democrats seeking to challenge President Donald Trump next year. A few others, including former Vice President Joe Biden, are still feeling out a candidacy.

Ryan hails from the Mahoning Valley in the northeastern part of the state, a reliably Democratic region that swung hard toward Trump in 2016.
