A few years ago, finding a smart TV for under $200 would have been unheard of. But as TV makers keep upgrading to higher quality pictures and adding in special features, the average cost of a decent TV is dropping, and that also means you can often find older models for much lower prices.
Right now, you can get a 43-inch 2017 TCL Smart LED TV for just $170 at Amazon. Not only is it $30 in savings compared to its most recent list price, but it’s also the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this model. This is an insane price for a TV this size, especially one that has Roku’s streaming platform built in.
Although we haven’t tested this specific TV, we have always really liked TCL TVs in general when we’ve tested them in the past, especially for their balance of quality and affordability. You will probably get a decent quality with this TCL. Although it’s a smaller, older TV, it’s at the perfect price to get one for a spare room you may have.
Our television expert, Lee Neikirk, told us his one concern with buying a TV from 2017 would be the possibility that its Roku software runs a bit slower than it does on newer TVs. But even if loading apps takes a few seconds longer, he believes the display quality should still be good. If you are worried about the internal software, you can always upgrade this TV with a new streaming device—like the Roku Streaming Stick+ that costs just $50.
This sale is running for today only, so if you’ve been wanting to upgrade your bedroom TV or put one in your guest room or the kids’ playroom, this might be the best time to do so.
