‘SNL’ casts Steve Martin as Roger Stone in opening sketch

Live, from New York, it’s more of the same − but with a surprise visit from Steve Martin!

“Saturday Night Live” returned for its second show of 2019 the only way it possibly could: addressing the government shutdown and arrest of President Trump associate Roger Stone.

Tucker Carlson, played by Alex Moffat, began the segment calling Trump’s end to the shutdown “heroic.” He brought on Judge Jeanine Pirro (Cecily Strong), who told Carlson that the country should take a Marie Kondo approach to cleaning up the country, and that she spoke to TSA agents who were “honored” to work for free.

Kate McKinnon played a bumbling and mumbling Wilbur Ross, who admitted yes, that maybe he sleeps in one of the cocoons from the movie “Cocoon” but that doesn’t mean he lives in a bubble.

Finally, Steve Martin showed up as the aforementioned Stone, who delivered ecastic lines like, “What a fun couple of days! I’m loving the ride! Go Nixon!”
