Duke’s first-round opponent is set.
North Dakota State beat North Carolina Central 78-74 on Wednesday night in a First Four game in Dayton, Ohio. The Bison will now travel to Columbia, S.C., to face the No. 1-seeded Blue Devils in a first-round game on Friday.
NDSU led most of the contest and even pushed its advantage to double digits after halftime, but N.C. Central clawed back to take the lead again with a little more than 6½ minutes to go. A back-and-forth final stretch saw North Dakota State come out on top.
The win is the first in the NCAA tournament for the Bison since 2014, when they knocked off No. 5 seed Oklahoma in the Round of 64. The loss for the Eagles was their third consecutive in the First Four.
