Iowa just added a huge win to its NCAA tournament resume while shaking up the Big Ten title race.
The No. 25 Hawkeyes took down the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines 74-59 Friday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Luka Garza led the way with 19 points for the Hawkeyes. Ryan Kriener and Joe Wieskamp added 15 and 16 points, respectively.
The loss for the Wolverines was their second on the year, and dropped them just behind in-state rival Michigan State — 9-2 vs. 9-1, respectively — in the league standings. Purdue and Maryland, which faces fifth-place Wisconsin later Friday, sit just behind the Michigan schools at 8-2 and 8-3 in the Big Ten.
Despite a 16-5 overall record, Iowa entered Friday night at just .500 in league play. But the upset of the 20-2 Wolverines will look fantastic come Selection Sunday.
More to come.
