Theme nights are all the rage in minor league baseball, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp may top them all by hosting “Florida Man Night” this summer.
The Miami Marlins’ Class AA affiliate says the event will feature a “weird Florida law” being broken every inning on July 26, when the team plays Biloxi Shuckers.
“There will be a lawyer in the house!,” the club said in a tweet and the promotion is being sponsored by a local Jacksonville law office.
As for what laws will actually be broken that night, the organization is staying tight-lipped.
“We want out fans to come out and see which laws will be broken themselves,” Jumbo Shrimp media and public relations manager Scott Kornberg told USA TODAY Sports.
The club says noted “Florida Man” Lane Pittman will be in attendance. Pittman gained online fame for holding an American flag shirtless during a hurricane.
One of the most memorable themed events in recent memory was hosted by the Montgomery Biscuits – Tampa Bay’s Class AA affiliate – last season. On “Millennial Night,” fans were given participation ribbons and selfie stations were set up around the stadium.
