Follow match vs. Brandt Snedeker at WGC-Dell Match Play

Tiger Woods defeated last season’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Aaron Wise 3&1 in his opening match of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play on Wednesday, and he’s back on the course Thursday at Austin Country Club.

Woods, an 18-time WGC champion, will play Brandt Snedeker for his second match as he looks to claim control of Group 13 and make a strong case to advance to the weekend. Woods and Snedeker tee off at 12:32 p.m. ET. Follow along for shot-by-shot analysis of the match.

Hole 10: Par 4, 387 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger safely finds the middle of the fairway here. He really laid back on this one.

SECOND SHOT: Air-mailed this one over the green. This could be in rough shape …

AROUND THE GREEN: The roughest of rough shape. He was pinned underneath a bush and had to hit this lefty from a knee, but it might be one of the most impressive shots he’s hit in quite some time. He punched it out perfectly and walked away with a cheeky little smile. Only Tiger.

ON THE GREEN: He knocked it to four feet and somehow gets up-and-down to save par. Sneds can’t believe it. He’s in for a normal, boring par to keep the lead. What a hole.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-down thru 10.

Hole 9: Par 4, 477 yards

OFF THE TEE: The Big Cat goes with the Big Stick to close out the front and he cuts the corner a bit and runs this one into the rough. Depending on the lie, he should have a good little look at the green.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger throws this one into the air and almost catches the hole on the way down. Great shot from Tiger to set up an even better look at birdie.

ON THE GREEN: Two-putt pars for both players here. Tiger had the right pace but it didn’t break at all.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-down thru 9.

Hole 8: Par 4, 487 yards

OFF THE TEE: Boom. Tiger pipes this one down the middle of the fairway and his ball takes a little run down a slope. Nice shot.

APPROACH SHOT: Good effort from TW here, just above pin-high to the right, 25 feet away. Sneds is off in the rough, so Tiger has a chance here.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger bands in the putt from distance and walked it in the last five feet. That’s a much-needed birdie and win as the back nine approaches.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-down thru 8.

Hole 7: Par 3, 212 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger safely finds the green again, but he couldn’t really go pin-seeking with a tucked-away pin. He’ll have 60 feet for birdie from there.

ON THE GREEN: He didn’t give his birdie putt enough juice and his par putt definitely won’t be conceded. Sneds is in with par, so pressure’s on for Tiger. He pushed the putt on the last hole and pulls this one. Yikes. Advantage Sneds again.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-down thru 7.

Hole 6: Par 5, 575 yards

OFF THE TEE: Driver for Tiger gets a little loose to the left and takes a run through the rough.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger and Sneds both went for the green in two, but only one made it. Sneds will have a 45-footer for eagle, while Tiger will have to chip out of a bunker from the left of the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger hit a nice, cozy shot to around 5 feet away from the hole to put the pressure on his opponent.

ON THE GREEN: Sneds couldn’t hit the eagle putt, and Tiger hit a just bad, bad putt and misses right. Sneds cleans up his birdie and claims the hole.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-down thru 6.

Hole 5: Par 4, 335 yards

OFF THE TEE: It’s a driveable hole and both Tiger and Sneds are on the dance floor in one with eagle putts awaiting. Sneds is about 46 feet right of the hole, while Tiger is around 70 feet away.

ON THE GREEN: 70 feet with a lot of movement right-to=left and Tiger plays it just about perfectly. He comes up just a little short but Sneds concedes what’s left for a TW birdie. Sneds’ eagle putt came up just short of “good-good” range, but he converts his birdie for another tie. Moving on.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Tied thru 5.

Hole 4: Par 3, 171 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger hit a safe shot to the center of the green as Sneds came up well short.

ON THE GREEN: The birdie putt was left seven feet short of the hole, giving Sneds a chance to at least get up-and-down to tie. His second shot still didn’t find the green, and when his third didn’t hole-out, it opened the door for Tiger to convert a par putt to claim the hole and square things up.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Tied thru 4.

Hole 3: Par 4, 430 yards

OFF THE TEE: Another solid tee shot here from Tiger as he draws it down the middle-right of the fairway. Sends is down the middle, as well. We could be in for a great match today.

APPROACH SHOT: Another safe approach to the green for Tiger, who finds the center of the green, 30 feet away. Sneds is on and in great position to score.

ON THE GREEN: This one was left the entire way and Tiger never gave it a shot. Sneds makes birdie and claims the first hole of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-down thru 3.

Hole 2: Par 4, 431 yards

OFF THE TEE: 3-wood here for TW who paints the right side of the fairway. Nice shot. He should have a decent angle at the pin, which is tucked away on the left side today and guarded by a front bunker.

APPROACH SHOT: 171 yards with a little wind and Tiger curls this one right-to-left and safely onto the green. He’s about 30 feet away, as is Sneds. Bit of a putting contest here at No. 2 coming up.

ON THE GREEN: Solid pace but not the right line for Tiger as this one lags up within a foot of the hole. He’s in for four. Sneds had a similar putt, but didn’t go to school enough on what he saw from Tiger. Tie.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Tied thru 2.

Hole 1: Par 4, 390 yards

OFF THE TEE: And we’re off! Tiger’s opening tee shot drifts a little left and finds a fairway bunker. Sneds is on the beach as well, about 20 yards short of Tiger.

APPROACH SHOT: Hitting into the wind the sand came up and got in his eyes a bit after Tiger’s shot. He safely finds the green about 50 feet from the cup.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger had a great line but not enough pace to get to the hole. His par putt was conceded by Sneds, who then missed a 14-footer to win the hole. Opening tie.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Tied thru 1.

Check out Tiger on the range warming up.
