Star wide receiver Antonio Brown took to Instagram on Saturday night to thank Pittsburgh Steelers fans for their love and support during his past nine NFL seasons with the franchise.
Brown’s status with the organization is up in the air. Owner and president Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last week that it would be “hard to envision” Brown returning to the team for training camp this summer.
“One thing I understand about this fan base and that I’ll never forget and always appreciate is your passion,” Brown wrote in the post, which included a video of him being helped off the field with an injury as “MVP” chants echoed through Heinz Field. “Know that it’s all love this way and I am forever thankful for #steelernation ! 🙏🏾 (this is not a goodbye, just a thank u).”
Brown has been criticized for his actions late in the season after he skipped meetings and practices before being ruled inactive for the season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Brown, a seven-time Pro Bowler who has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, remains one of the league’s top receivers, making a potential trade one of the NFL’s biggest story lines as the offseason approaches.
